지구궤도를 비행하는 느낌은 어떨까?

국제우주정거장은 매 90마다 지구를 한바퀴 돌고 있다. 

그리고 가끔 국제우주정거장에 타고 있는 우주인은 그 광경을 사진으로 남기는데 이 동영상은 그 사진들로 만들어진 것이다.

 

이 동영상은 그 아래 밤을 맞고 있는 지구의 멋진 풍경을 많이 보여주고 있다.

우선 동영상이 시작되면 하얀 구름위로 펼쳐진 초록색과 붉은색의 오로라가 상단왼쪽으로 나타난다.

곧이어 도시의 불빛이 눈에 들어오는데 북아메리카 상공을 지나며 도시의 불빛은 점점더 선명해지고 마침내 플로리다 상공을 지나가게 된다.

 

이어 두번째 장면에서는 유럽과 아프리카 상공을 통과하는 모습이 나타나고 국제우주정거장은 나일강 상공을 통과한다.

짧게 발생하는 섬광들은 폭풍속에 치고 있는 번개이다.

 

저 멀리로는 초록빛과 황금빛으로 빛나는 지구의 대기광위로 떠오르는 별들이 보인다.

Flying over the Earth at Night II

Explanation: What would it be like to orbit the Earth? The International Space Station (ISS) does this every 90 minutes, and sometimes the astronauts on board take image sequences that are made into videos. The featured time-lapse video shows many visual spectacles of the dark Earth below. First, as the video begins, green and red aurorasare visible on the upper left above white clouds. Soon city lights come into view, and it becomes clear you are flying over North America, eventually passing over Florida. In the second sequence you fly over Europe and Africa, eventually passing over the Nile River. Brief flashes of light are lightning in storms. Stars far in the distance can be seen rising through the greenish-gold glow of the Earth's atmosphere.
