큐리오시티가 바라본 스네이크 리버

 

 

하단 중앙부에 물결 모양을 이루고 있는 돌 구조물이 담겨 있는 이 사진은 큐리오시티호가 담아낸 

 "스네이크 리버(Snake River)"라고 명명된 지역의 사진들을 모자이크한 것이다. 

모자이크에 사용된 사진들은 큐리오시티호의 네비게이션 카메라를 이용하여 촬영되었으며

화성에서 133일째를 맞던 지난 지난 2012년 12월 20일에 촬영되었다. 

화성 147일째(2013년 1월 3일)에 큐리오시티호는 근처의 다른 바위들로 접근하기 전에 사진에 보이는 스네이크 리버 쪽으로 3미터를 더 이동하였다.

PIA16564: 'Snake River' Rock Feature Viewed by Curiosity Mars Rover

The sinuous rock feature in the lower center of this mosaic of images recorded by the NASA Mars rover Curiosity is called "Snake River." The images in the mosaic were taken by Curiosity's Navigation Camera during the 133rd Martian day, or sol, of the rover's mission on Mars (Dec. 20, 2012).

On Sol 147 (Jan. 3, 2013), Curiosity drove about 10 feet (3 meters) to get a closer look at Snake River for before proceeding to other nearby rocks.

JPL, a division of the California Institute of Technology, Pasadena, manages the Mars Science Laboratory Project for NASA's Science Mission Directorate, Washington. JPL designed and built the project's Curiosity rover.
