일본에서 촬영된 여름의 대삼각형

여름의 대삼각형을 본 적이 있는가?

하늘에 거대한 삼각형을 그리는 밝은 별, 베가, 데네브, 알타이르는 북반구의 초봄에는 이른 새벽에 떠오르고 가을에는 밤에 떠오른다.

한여름에 이 삼각형은 자정에 천정부근에서 발견할 수 있다.

 

지난달 여름의 대삼각형을 담은 이 사진은 일본 군마에서 촬영된 것이다.

전면에는 자신의 삼각형을 과시하며 꽃을 활짝 피우고 있는 15미터 높이의 500년 수령의 벚나무가 서 있다. 

 

이 별들이 만들어내는 삼각형은 오직 지구에서 바라봤을 때만 드러나는 형태이다. 사실 이 별들은 우주 공간에서 수천광년씩 떨어져 있다.

Summer Triangles over Japan

Explanation: Have you ever seen the Summer Triangle? The bright stars Vega, Deneb, and Altair form a large triangle on the sky that can be seen rising in the northern early spring during the morning and rising in the northern fall during the evening. During summer months, the triangle can be found nearly overhead near midnight. Featured here, the Summer Triangle asterism was captured last month from Gunma, Japan. In the foreground, sporting a triangular shape of its own, is a flowering 500 year old cherry tree, standing about 15 meters tall. The triangular shape of the asterism is only evident from the direction of Earth -- in actuality the stars are thousands of light years apart in space.
