달에서 사람을 본 적이 있는가?
이 질문은, 실제로는 존재하지 않지만 익숙한 형태를 상상해보는 환시 능력을 점검하는데 주로 사용되는 질문이다.

 

보름달 표면에 나타나는 질감은 오늘날 서구 문명 뿐 아니라 전세계적으로 저마다의 전승으로 전해지는 여러 개의 상징적인 형태를 가지고 있다.

 

예를 들어 달을 바라보는 방향에 따라 어떤 곳에서는 여인을 보기도 하고 어떤 곳에서는 토끼를 보기도 한다.

 

남자의 얼굴을 인식하게 되는 경우 이 모습은 두 개의 검은 원형 지역 - 달의 바다라 부르는 곳 - 으로 시작되는데 이 지역은 달의 중앙부 바로 위에 자리잡고 있으며 얼굴에서 두 개의 눈을 나타낸다.

 

놀랍게도 이 사진에서는 실제 사람이 있다.

자세히 보면 실제 빛통을 들고 있는 사람의 검은 그림자가 보인다.

 

꼼꼼하게 수립된 계획 하에 촬영된 이 사진은 지난 1월 중순 스페인 마드리드, 까달소 드로스 비드리오스(Cadalso de los Vidrios)에서 촬영된 것이다.

Find the Man in the Moon

Explanation: Have you ever seen the Man on the Moon? This common question plays on the ability of humans to see pareidolia -- imagining familiar icons where they don't actually exist. The textured surface of Earth's full Moon is home to numerous identifications of iconic objects, not only in modern western culture but in world folklore throughout history. Examples, typically dependent on the Moon's perceived orientation, include the Woman in the Moon and the Rabbit in the Moon. one facial outline commonly identified as the Man in the Moon starts by imagining the two dark circular areas -- lunar maria -- here just above the Moon's center, to be the eyes. Surprisingly, there actually is a man in this Moon image -- a close look will reveal a real person -- with a telescope -- silhouetted against the Moon.
