3차원으로 보는 Carina 성운

 

 

이 3차원 시뮬레이션은 우리 은하에서 가장 광대한 범위로 별들을 만들어내고 있는 카리나 성운의 거대한 수소와 먼지 구름으로 다가서는 여행을 그리고 있다.

 

이 성운까지는 너무나 멀어서 허블우주망원경으로도 3차원 영상을 구성하기가 어렵다.

그러나 3차원으로 봤을때 각 지역의 분포가 어떨지에 대한 근사치를 추정하여 이와 같이 전경과 배경으로 구성된 영상을 만들 수 있었다.

 

가상 카메라가 합성된 우주공간을 유영하며 3차원 효과를 만들어내고 있다.

3D trip into the Carina Nebula

This is a pseudo three-dimensional trip into a giant “mountain” of cool hydrogen and dust in the Carina Nebula – a vast star-forming region in our Milky Way galaxy. The nebula is too far away for Hubble Space Telescope to see in true three dimensions. But this visualisation creates foreground and background elements based on an approximation of how the region might be distributed in a 3D volume. A virtual camera flies through this synthesised space to create a 3D effect.
