디오네 : 충돌구덩이들과 고리들

디오네를 마지막으로 스쳐 지나가는 카시니 호가 디오네를 향해 다가가는 동안 촬영한 이 사진에는 토성의 고리 앞쪽으로 자리잡고 있는 디오네의 모습이 담겨있다.

 

이 사진은 카시니 호에 장착된 협각 카메라에 의해 2015년 8월 17일 가시광선으로 촬영된 것이다.

 

사진이 촬영될 당시 카시니 호는 디오네로부터 158,000  킬로미터 거리에 위치해 있었으며 태양 - 디오네 - 카시니 호 순으로 정렬되어 있었다.
사진의 화각은 35도이며 해상도는 픽셀당 950 미터이다.

PIA17201: Dione: Craters and Rings

Saturn's moon Dione hangs in front of Saturn's rings in this view taken by NASA's Cassini spacecraft during the inbound leg of its last close flyby of the icy moon.

North on Dione is up. The image was acquired in visible light with the Cassini spacecraft narrow-angle camera on Aug. 17, 2015.

The view was acquired at a distance of approximately 98,000 miles (158,000 kilometers) from Dione and at a sun-Dione-spacecraft, or phase, angle of 35 degrees. Image scale is 3,100 feet (950 meters) per pixel.

The Cassini mission is a cooperative project of NASA, ESA (the European Space Agency) and the Italian Space Agency. The Jet Propulsion Laboratory, a division of the California Institute of Technology in Pasadena, manages the mission for NASA's Science Mission Directorate, Washington. The Cassini orbiter and its two onboard cameras were designed, developed and assembled at JPL. The imaging operations center is based at the Space Science Institute in Boulder, Colorado.
