ASASSN-18fv : 용골자리에서 발견된 새별

새별 용골자리 2018은 얼마나 밝아지게 될까?

지난 주에 새별이 발견되었다.

 

우주에서 새별은 흔히 발생하는 일이다. 

하지만  ASASSN-18fv로 등재된 이 새별은 독특한 밝기를 자랑하고 있으며 그 결과 남반구에서는 쌍안경 정도로도 쉽게 볼 수 있는 수준이다.

사진에 화살표로 표시된 이 새별은 카리나성운 방향에서 발견되었다.

 

비록 그 세부 양상이 밝혀져 있진 않지만 새별은 대개 짝꿍별로부터 물질을 빨아들은 백색난쟁이별의 표면에서 열핵반응에 의한 폭발이 발생할 때 만들어진다.

과연 용골자리 2018 새별은 어떻게 진화해 나가게 될까?

과연 이 별은 맨눈으로도 볼 수 있을만큼 밝아지게 될까?

이러한 의문들을 포함하여 앞으로 이 별은 전문천문학자들 및 아마추어천문학자들에 의한 관측이 계속될 것이다.

Announcing Nova Carinae 2018

Explanation: How bright will Nova Carinae 2018 become? The new nova was discovered only last week. Although novas occur frequently throughout the universe, this nova, cataloged as ASASSN-18fv, is so unusually bright in the skies of Earth that it is now easily visible through binoculars in the southern hemisphere. Identified by the arrow, the nova occurs near the direction of the picturesque Carina Nebula. A nova is typically caused by a thermonuclear explosion on the surface of a white dwarf star that is accreting matter from a binary companion, although details of this outburst are currently unknown. Both professional and amateur astronomers will be monitoring thisunusual stellar outburst in the coming weeks, looking to see how Nova Carinae 2018 evolves, including whether it becomes bright enough to be visible to the unaided eye.
